Transaction Descriptors

Transaction descriptors depict a definite payment that helps customers to identify the transaction in a bank statement after making a purchase.

You can add the transaction descriptor in ChargeMonk, which will be visible on card/bank statements of your customer. Though, the bank of customer will decide the way these descriptors will appear on the bank statement that means, capitalization of letters, words, the number of characters, and so on can be decided by the bank.

In addition to this, the gateway that you use may have some rules and restrictions regarding the descriptors that they allow to pass on. The limitations of character imposed by the different payment gateways that we support are given below:

Configure Transaction Descriptor

Every gateway in your ChargeMonk site will support the added Transaction descriptor.

For configuration of the transaction descriptor, go to Settings > Configure ChargeMonk > Payment Gateways > Add a Descriptor

You can also add a descriptor in the dialog box that appears.

In addition to this, you can select to shift a Subscription ID or Customer ID along with its descriptor. The merge vars tag that you want to use along with descriptor, copy and paste it.

Note

  • To activate Merge Vars tag for your account, get in touch with ChargeMonk support.
  • There is a limit of total characters supported for transaction in each gateway. Characters within that limit will be taken into account only.
